December 7, 2009 — The 2009 Pep Rally for all Southern California and Texas employees of Robbins Brothers was a blast! The event in So Cal was held at the Marconi Museum in Tustin, California.
Our annual Pep Rally is held to thank the stores and support staff at corporate for a job well done, and to give us all the tools needed to make sure our customers who are celebrating romance have an extraordinary experience in our stores and find the engagement rings of their dreams.
Shulie, dressed as “Max” from Where the Wild Things Are, took 2nd prize in the office contest. Robert was a very convincing vampire (until he ate the Kosher muffin from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf), Todd was a Misfit (much less scary than his “Clockwork Orange” costume in ’08) and Tracey was a border patrol agent. (Not sure that the high-heeled boots are part of the regulation uniform.) Anthony wore Diane’s coat, scarf, hat and sunglasses and made a convincing Dennis Rodman (except for the skin color, he looked EXACTLY like him!) and Diane simply came as David Letterman’s worst nightmare: blackmail.
Everyone’s favorite IT guy has a little trouble getting in the building today. The Halloween costume was something else though! And he hand-made the mask! What talent!
Way to go Team Robbins Brothers! The “Lovely Day” surprise marriage video with all the happy couples, including our Mission Viejo customers Michael Knobbe & Christin (the firefighter from Vernon who just returned home from Iraq) reached 100,000 views today!
Today is the last day to get your new or gently-worn shoes to Roland in I.T.!
Here’s Roland’s note:
I am going to be collecting your gently worn footwear to be donated to a person in need, whether they are victims of a natural disaster or subject to living in extreme poverty. It is estimated that Americans have 1.5 billion pairs of unused shoes lying in their closets. The charity can use each and every one of these pairs to make a tangible difference in someone’s life. I will setup a cardboard box in the I.T. area just place your shoes there and they will given to this charity from now till October 12th.
Robbins Brothers home office employees Angela (Ring Center) and Katie (Merchandise) are training to run a half-marathon with Team Challenge on December 6th, 2009 in Vegas. They are running to raise money for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. (Melanie in the merchandise department has a sister who has suffered from this disease for the past 20 years.) Their goal is to raise $10,000 to directly fund the mission of CCFA, to find a cure, and to improve the quality of life by those affected. To donate and support your co-workers, go to:
Team Volcano won the Rock-A-Hula race on Tuesday. (After an nervous review session behind closed doords, officials confirmed that team members didn’t use steroids or any performance-altering drugs to win the competition.)
